The idea of this blog is to show part of the production of year 7D in English throughout the 2nd and 3rd bimesters of 2016. Individual and group productions are here included. Some of them relate to the field trip the students went on in the center of São Paulo city. We sincerely hope you enjoy our work.

Best,

Year 7D students and Teacher Maira

Danilo, Gustavo Yuji, Raphael, André - São Paulo Field Trip

São Paulo

We of the seventh grade went to the center of São Paulo. We learned about the history of our city and visited a lot of historical monuments, churches and crypts. We also saw the reality of the center in the number of beggars and the bad conditions of cleaning. But despite of that, the trip was very cool, we had fun in company of our friends and learned many things about our city.

Sé Cathedral

It was the 1st place: In 1913, the construction of the Cathedral has began, elaborated by the german Maximilian Emil Hehl, architecture teacher of the polytechnical school. The temple was inaugurated on 25th of january of 1954, on the celebration of the 4th centenary of the city of São Paulo, still without the two main towers.
When we visited the place, we saw the unique architecture of the place, that represents fauna and flora elements of the Brazil and the stained glasses that show the history of the Portuguese.

São Paulo Field Trip

In our opinion the field trip was cool and a bit exhaustive, because we walked all the time.

            SÉ CATHEDRAL:
This place was really big, and was the first catedral of Brazil.
It has a neogothic style, and glass from Europe and Brazil.
It has crypts with the bodies of José de Anchieta, Tibiriça, etc.

About São Paulo's Field trip
GROUND ZERO
By: Lucas O.
Located in Cathedral Square, the downtown area, the ground zero of São Paulo is a historical monument, has hexagonal prism shape, coated in marble; and symbolizes the geographic center of the state capital. The function of this miniobelisk has its roots in the early twentieth century, when enumeration of public roads was defined by several starting points. Then, with the creation of Ground Zero, it was decided that the numbers should always leave, in progressive order, the centrality fixed stuff in front of the Se Cathedral.
The suggestion for the creation of Marco Zero came in 1921 by Américo R. Netto, journalist and member of the Paulista Good Roads Association. For the implementation of the project, Américo indicated Jean Gabriel Villi, sculptor of French origin. But only 11 years later, the journalist had his proposal approved by Antonio Carlos Assumpção, which at that time was the mayor. In 1934, the structure was installed and that became the first ground zero of all of South America.
The miniobelisco features in each of its six faces, the location of an important region of Brazil. The demarcated areas are: Goiás, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Santos and Parana. Each region presents a picture created by Jean Gabriel Villi as a symbol.
On the surface of the ground zero of the city of São Paulo there is a bronze plaque, which has been the victim of theft several times, which can be checked the most important points of the capital at the time of the monument creation. Demarcations indicate the Paulista Avenue, Consolação Street, the Fatherland Volunteer Street, located in the north, the Ypiranga Museum (spelled this way in the period), the Faculty of Medicine, University of São Paulo (USP), the station Light, the river Pinheiros and the Tiete river.

Ladeira Porto Geral
By: Rodrigo Ogawa
When I was in "Ladeira Porto Geral”, I saw a lot of people in a hurry to go to some places. For example, people were going to work or going back home. In that place, I saw commercial places and some stores, on the street there were a lot of salesmen currently and also in the past. The people bought their products too fast and after that they walked fast again and the movement didn´t stop and the people continued to be in a hurry.

SE CATHEDRAL

In 1913, the construction of the Cathedral began as it is today. It was made by the German Maximilian Emil Hehl, Professor of Architecture at the Polytechnic School. The temple was inaugurated on January 25, 1954, for the celebration of the 4th centenary of the city of São Paulo, still without the two main towers .
The first version of the church was installed in 1591 when the Tibiriçá chief chose the land where you find the first temple of the city, built in mud mortar ( wall made of clay and crushed straw, structured in logs).

FIELD TRIP - São Paulo Historical Center
By Mariana 18, Beatriz 5, Gabriela 11, Gustavo 15

On august 23rd, grade 7 went to Centro de São Paulo. We got there by bus, it took us about 40 minutes.
When we first got there we saw a monument, that showed the Portuguese teaching about their religion to the Brazilian Indians. It was really tall, around it there was a lot of old buildings.
We also visited many churches and cathedrals. They are all really big and some of them have the shape of a cross. The one we though it was the more interesting was the Mosteiro de São Bento, because teachers told us that inside, it had some monks, who has to live there and every thing there, was written in Latin.
All places we went were amazing, however the place we most licked was Edificio Martinelli, because it was one of the biggest buildings, it has 30 floors and the view is wonderful.
Although we liked a lot, it had a lot of trash in the floor, some places smelled really bad and unfortunately it had a lot of homeless in the sidewalks.

                                       Martinelli building:

The Martinelli building was the first skyscraper in São Paulo , made of reinforced concrete in neoclassical style with 30 floors and 130 meters high. Belonged to Giuseppe Martinelli , Italian- Brazilian businessman who made his fortune in the country.

Over the years , the building added in 1267 its dependencies Cine Rosario , salons , restaurants , casinos and elegant Hotel São Bento. The abandonment caused the building to become a large tenement .
After being declared a historic site , the site now houses municipal offices ; for visitors, it is available the terrace and its panoramic view . All visits are monitored and tell the story of the building.

   São Bento Monastery

My group and I visited many locations but the one I liked the most was São Bento Monastery. This place was big and beatiful. It is a historical site and it is many years old. People go there to pray.
On the left of mosteiro there's a house for the monks and those monks pray every day at the same time.

My winter vacation

My winter vacation. How to start ? It wasn’t my best vacation, but I had much fun.
I went to Atibaia in Brazil, with some of my best friends: Julia Machado, Estela Alves, Beatriz Ribeiro and Marina Gianizela, but we all went with our families, we had a lot of fun there: we went to the pool, we went bowling and we went to the movies, but we only stayed one week there.:(
Here in SP it was cold some of the days and some of the days were a little hot. But in Atibaia it was really hot.
On the other days I went to my friends house and we went to the mall and the movies. What I wanted to do but I didn`t have time was go to the trampoline park with my friends.

Of all my vacation what I liked the most was hanging out with my friends and traveling with then.
